What's for dinner? Menu Plan - 1 November 2022

What’s for dinner? Menu Plan. Menu planning made easy! How to menu plan and why you should try it!

It’s definitely getting a bit chilly now as we move towards the end of autumn and begin descending into the winter season.

The days are still bright but with each passing day, it feels like it’s getting darker earlier. And while we’re not quite ready to trade in our t-shirts for sweaters yet, we have been enjoying some of our favourite fall foods like pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider doughnuts.

Does your menu change with the seasons?

Mine most definitely does, over the summer we tend to enjoy lighter foods like salads, bbq and wraps. But, as we move towards winter we start seeing more comfort foods like chilli, soups and stews. So what about you? What are some of your favourite foods to eat during different seasons?

Menu Planning

For the past week and the next tree-ish weeks, we are trying out Green Chef (not sponsored!). I felt like I needed a bit of inspiration and after doing Ketober for October it seemed like a brilliant way to end our Ketober challenge. We’ve definitely felt a bit “lighter” during the challenge and will move forward with a lower-carb approach but we have definitely had enough of cauliflower – for now!

Why you should try menu planning

Meal planning is a great way to save time and money, but it can also help you eat healthier. When you plan your meals for the week, you’re less likely to order takeout or grab food on the go. Not only that, but meal planning allows you to make sure you have enough ingredients in your fridge and pantry so that when you do cook something, it doesn’t end up being a rushed affair.

Here are some other reasons why meal planning is a must:

  • It saves money. If you shop once a week instead of multiple times per week, then you’ll spend less money on groceries each time you go shopping.
  • It helps you avoid overspending on junk foods and impulse buys at the grocery store.
  • It decreases stress levels by allowing you to prepare for busy times in advance. For example, if there are only two days left before your child’s birthday party and there’s nothing planned for dinner that night, then it’s going to be stressful trying to figure out what to make at the last minute (or worse yet — deciding not to cook anything).

This week’s menu is a combination of Green Chef meals. We’ll have easy homemade dinners Monday and Tuesday and then five dinners from Green Chef that are either low-barb or keto.
