5 Things to do on a Sunday for a less stressful week

How to start a self-care routine you’ll follow - 5 steps

The key to having both a productive and organized week is to plan ahead.

Here are 5 productive things you can do on a Sunday to make Monday, and the next week less stressful and more manageable. Plus, it’ll save you a huge amount of time during the week as well.

Get organized

Review your calendar for the week. There is nothing worse than forgetting about a meeting and showing up unprepared. If you have children, go over their school calendar too, and note down all meetings, playdates, and the days your children have to bring something to school.

Schedule tasks and projects throughout the week. Make sure they are spread out and manageable, instead of added in at the last minute. This could be your cleaning schedule, your menu plan, or a date with the other half or a friend.

Plan the meals for the next week

Plan out your meals and prepare your lunches. There’s nothing worse than standing in front of a half-empty fridge and then deciding to run to the shop at the last minute to buy a quick dinner, or getting a delivery because you just couldn’t cope with cooking dinner. Creating an easy meal plan that works around your day is simpler than you might think.

Tidy up your space

A messy home can add to your stress level. Your home should be a place where you feel safe and comfortable. Having a clean home can have both mental and emotional benefits. Starting the week in a clean and tidy home helps put your mind at ease because it is one less thing to worry about. Instead of spending hours cleaning after a busy day at work, you can instead choose a 10-minute cleaning task (Link to my 10-minute cleaning plan) every day to keep on top of things.

Prepare for your morning routine

Plan your outfits for the week. This will not only save you a lot of time in the morning, but it will also free you from decision-making. Decision fatigue is a real thing.  Monday mornings are hard enough and any decision you can skip making is just a bonus.

This also goes for the kids, have them put together their clothes for each day of the week and have them in a handy place for easy reach every morning.

Spend time outside with the family

Sundays are just about chores and preparations. It’s also very important to relax and have some fun. Why not go for a family picnic or a family bike ride and spend some time out in nature. Spending time in nature has significant and wide-ranging health benefits like improving blood pressure, boosting mental health, and can even improve your memory.

Don’t panic!

Don’t panic if you can’t get everything that you planned done over the weekend. The weekend is a time for resting and recuperation not for extensive prep work for the coming week. So, if you need to rest, do that instead. Always lead with kindness towards yourself when you are planning.
